Thanksgiving Point, the working indoor and outdoor farm, garden, and museum complex, complete with a PGA golf course and a 55-acre estate, brings the natural world to life for their guests.
The Challenge: With nearly 3 million visitors every year, Thanksgiving Point security teams have large parking lots to monitor continuously, by observing the arrivals and departures of guests, deterring car thefts and break-ins, and ensuring crowd control at large events. The team also must work to protect gardens from intruders—humans and those who live in the animal kingdom.
The Results: The organization now protects its 110,000-spot parking lot with strobe lights, floodlights, and a loudspeaker. Thanksgiving Point’s LVT Units also deter hungry deer from feasting on over a million flowers and plants in the gardens.
“LVT gives you 24/7 visibility,” Thanksgiving Point Security Operations Manager Chris Watson said. “It’s like having a security guard standing there watching the entire time.”
When the Philadelphia Phillies’ security team discovered a gap in the team’s operations playbook, they knew they needed a major league upgrade. The team required more sightlines into its vast parking lots, where its existing internal camera system couldn’t document if any thefts, burglaries, assaults, and other incidents happened.
The Challenge: Phillies security wanted to beef up its parking lot security to monitor fans’ vehicles and provide video evidence if necessary. The organization needed a mobile security camera solution to provide full coverage of the large area.
The Results: By increasing security to extend to the Phillies’ parking perimeters, the operations teams deterred criminal incidents for more than 2.7 million fans each season.
“If fans don’t feel safe, they’re not going to come to the ballpark,” Philadelphia Phillies Director of Operations and Security Salvatore DeAngelis said. “I’ve seen the capabilities of what LVT can do. It solved a problem for us that we knew we had in our parking lot.”
Residential development company Aspect Homes specializes in infill development—building new construction on undeveloped and rezoned land on the outskirts of cities in Nevada. The company struggled to curtail construction theft across its sites, which caused substantial delays and cost thousands of dollars.
The Challenge: Finding an easy-to-set-up and cost-effective solution to monitor multiple construction sites and prevent theft of materials and tools.
The Results: LVT Units made a huge impact on Aspect Homes’ bottom line, saving the company more than $10,000 a month on hiring security guards. Once set up, construction sites eliminated tool theft completely and reduced trespassing incidents by 50%.
“It was very effective,” Aspect Homes Founder and Construction Consultant Mickey Stratton said. “I’ve had no theft—and I know most buildings in the area are experiencing theft.”
Enel Group invests in renewable energy sources, including hydroelectricity, solar, wind, and nuclear power. It operates in more than 50 countries, and its North American operation includes 115 remote sites that require continuous monitoring—during the construction phases and after the sites are fully online, operational, and on the grid.
The Challenge: Renewable energy sites are mostly located in remote areas, which makes live and remote monitoring, without access to hardwire connections, a top priority. In addition to real-time alerts, security and operations teams need to deter theft and vandalism, protect equipment, and ensure that only approved personnel have access to the site.
The Results: With LVT, Enel is saving millions of dollars in security thanks to uninterrupted service and efficient solutions. The LVT Units prevent vandalism, which can cause delays of one to six months, for only $4 an hour. This is much less than the $35 to $40 hourly wage a human security guard makes—and has proven a more reliable option.
“We needed the ability to deploy security in a timely manner and the stability of working with a valued partner,” said Phil Brophy, Enel’s Head of Security Services USA and Canada. “It’s not just a security solution. It’s an operations solution.”
In 2017, three partners joined together to transform 1,500 acres of land in Coalville, Utah into a luxury mountain community. Wohali includes over 500 high-end homes, multiple golf courses, a spa and clubhouse, cabins, restaurants, and an amphitheater, and is a place where residents can enjoy a healthy, environmentally-conscious lifestyle.
The Challenge: Developers needed to protect more than $6 million in assets and equipment with the ability to monitor the construction remotely. The sales and marketing departments wanted real-time progress updates, while the security teams needed liability and evidence collection measures in place.
The Results: Security alerts, evidentiary and time-lapse video capabilities, and 24/7 remote monitoring—all via a live feed over both desktop and mobile portals, ensured the project was delivered on time and on budget.
“We have limited access to utilities or power,” said David Boyden, Managing Partner at Wohali, “so the fact that we have security that is solar powered and is completely mobile is awesome.”
To help local residents combat food insecurity, the Community Action Services and Food Bank created a community garden and rents plots for a nominal fee. Gardeners grow produce to offset increasing food budgets and donate their excess harvest to the organization to help feed others.
The Challenge: Thieves and late-night trespassers were causing problems for community gardeners, and the Community Action Services and Food Bank needed a low-cost solution that would patrol the site 24/7.
The Results: Since setting up LVT’s professional outdoor security camera, the garden eliminated all instances of theft and trespassing.
“One of my favorite features is that this [system runs] off of solar power and I am able to see every direction of the garden,” Volunteer Coordinator and Community Garden Manager
Hillary Whittaker said. “It has also been fun to see how much has changed and grown since the camera was put in.”
From protecting voting and vaccination sites to providing a bird’s eye view of a national park’s treasures, LVT Units keep watch—around the clock. Many local municipalities choose LVT Units for their flexibility, portability, and uninterrupted views.
Between the COVID-19 pandemic and the high-stakes 2020 election, tensions ran high in advance of voters heading to cast their ballots. To ensure a safe election, Maryland’s Anne Arundel County needed to ensure ballot integrity for the county’s 412,184 registered voters by safeguarding all 32 ballot drop boxes with 24-hour security.
The Challenge: When it became clear that the Anne Arundel County Board of Elections staff needed to provide its residents with a safe and secure way to cast their ballots outside of a voting precinct, there were some obstacles. The solution needed to be cost-effective, monitored 24/7, and not tied to a local power grid.
The Results: LVT Units provided real-time surveillance throughout the voting process. With zero voter incidents or interference, LVT Units proved that dropping off ballots is a safe, secure way for Americans to exercise their right to vote.
“With COVID-19, we had to deal with a lot of factors and adjust on the fly,” Anne Arundel County Board of Elections Deputy Director David Garreis said. “Having something so versatile and flexible alleviated a lot of the logistical problems you have to deal with when you plan for an election.”
Utah County Emergency Management is part of the Emergency Services Bureau at the Utah County Sheriff’s Department. The bureau sources and supplies emergency management solutions and equipment to 29 cities.
The Challenge: Law enforcement needed more eyes, in more places, for more time, across the 2,144-square-mile area of Utah County. From popup vaccine clinics and voting sites to special needs facilities and known crime hotspots, local police wanted to augment their abilities to protect residents—and move quickly when necessary.
The Results: LVT Units provided law enforcement 24/7 surveillance options, instant monitoring capabilities, and a mobile solution that could be deployed across 29 cities quickly.
“LVT fills the monitoring gap that we had for significantly less than 24/7 human surveillance,” Utah County Emergency Manager Lieutenant Peter Quittner said.
The Puyallup Tribe is one of the most urban reservations in the country. The Puyallup Nation Public Safety Division trusts LVT to help protect and secure tribal lands, deter crime, and reduce incidents across the reservation.
The Challenge: Improve surveillance, security measures, and team efficiency throughout the reservation, particularly at events as well as in remote areas.
The Results: LVT Units allowed security teams to prioritize their resources, allowing them to respond quickly to critical incidents. By deploying mobile units where and when they were needed most, people felt safer as security teams were able to monitor crowds and reduce overall crime at remote locations,
“Each [LVT] unit is a set of eyes where you can’t have your own,” Puyallup Nation Public Safety Director Dennis Young said. “The cameras also create situational awareness, which is the most important part of this job.”
While more than 4 million visitors head through West Yellowstone, the quickest way to reach Old Faithful and some of Yellowstone National Park’s best-known attractions, city officials want to share the area’s beauty with those who aren’t able to visit in person.
The Challenge: West Yellowstone receives more than 150 inches of snow, making most webcam solutions to observe, track, and create time-lapse videos irrelevant. To entice web visitors, the city needed a reliable, live webcam—one that could withstand harsh weather conditions and give users the ability pan, zoom, and tilt remotely, to discover a remote reservoir and its surrounding area throughout the year.
The Results: Flawless streaming, even in inclement weather, made West Yellowstone’s webcam the No. 1 hit on the tourist website. Users can use the remote control function on the LVT Platform to discover the area without braving the elements in real time.
“The LVT Unit has been a real asset,” West Yellowstone Administrator Kristy Coffin said. “The embedded livestream on our website allows people to see what we have to offer without leaving their homes.”
Trash is a huge headache for leaders in Camden, New Jersey. The city must collect an average of 43,000 tons of illegally dumped trash every year, which costs nearly $4.5 million—money that would be better spent on other city services.
The Challenge: Amid efforts to redevelop and reinvest in their neighborhoods, Camden City officials needed a cost-effective way to prevent illegal dumping.
The Results: Not only has the city experienced no major illegal dumping in the sites using LiveView Technologies cameras, the setups build morale among residents and increases participation in other environmental and redevelopment efforts.
“The deterrence factor of LVT has been huge,” Keith L. Walker, Director of Public Works said. “Nobody stops. They just drive by.”
