From trespassers and toads to protestors and vandals, securing golf courses for major tournaments requires forward-thinking, innovative technologies, and collaborative partnerships.
When Monroe County Sheriff’s Department leaders discovered two conflicting dates on their 2023 event calendar, they knew additional security measures were necessary to supplement police resources. They tapped Security 101 Owner and CEO Victor Wainright, an enterprise IT leader with more than 25 years of experience, to help identify and implement security solutions for a major professional golf tournament coming to Rochester, N.Y.
Wainright saw deployed LVT mobile surveillance units at a local retailer and knew he had a solution, one he didn’t have to build, program, or maintain.
“LVT offers Security 101 the ability to provide event organizers hassle-free, cost-effective security operations,” Wainright said. “There are so many local events that require these kinds of short-term, high-impact options without complicated setup and infrastructure constraints. LVT transformed this event and my business—I plan to purchase additional units soon.”
Golfers need to concentrate on their strokes, not their safety. Spectators want to keep their eyes on the course, not over their shoulders. That’s how LVT changes the game in event security. With LVT Units in place, law enforcement could identify potential threats proactively and respond swiftly, while event security could handle crowd control and monitor the many entries and exits.
Unlike some mounted security cameras or drones, LVT mobile surveillance units serve as visible deterrents against potential security threats. Features that also sealed the deal for Wainright included their ability to provide:
Integrating LVT’s mobile surveillance units within the existing security measures the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department employs equaled a hole-in-one for both parties.
“We’re ready for anything,” Lt. Andrew Soike, the law enforcement point person overseeing the massive planning leading up to the tournament told Spectrum News 1. “We put a lot of time and preparation getting ready for this.”
“Security 101 and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department established an incredible working relationship, made possible through a strategic public-private partnership. We were able to seamlessly provide unobtrusive, yet incredibly effective security for the athletes, fans, and staff,” Wainright said.
“The introduction of appropriately employed mobile surveillance represents a significant step forward in achieving our goal to deliver a safe and exceptional experience,” Chief Deputy Michael Fowler said in a statement. “By properly embracing cutting-edge technology and prioritizing safety, the tournament continues to set new benchmarks in event security.”
